Amanda Winfield (Soprano)

Amanda Winfield (soprano) was raised in New Zealand, and made her professional debut in 1998 in National Opera of Wellington’s productions of Verdi’s Otello and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.

In 1999 Ms. Winfield went to study and perform in New York City. With Dicapo Opera Theatre she has appeared in over 20 productions, singing title roles in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah and Puccini’s Suor Angelica. She has toured New England, singing Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Giulietta in The Tales of Hoffman, and the High Priestess in Aida, all with National Lyric Opera of New York. Ms. Winfield made her Lincoln Center debut in the world premiere of Soong’s Return to Paradise.

She has performed throughout the United States, most recently with Augusta Opera, singing the leading soprano role in Side by Side by Sondheim. She sang Julie Jordan in Carousel and made her Nashville Opera debut singing Poulenc’s opera La Voix Humaine.

Ms. Winfield studies with American soprano Diana Soviero, and has recently moved to Europe with her husband, Ravil Atlas. In her debut in 2006, she sang the title role in Madama Butterfly for the European Chamber Opera and made her UK debut singing Amelia in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. Ms. Winfield appears next year with the Birmingham Philharmonic, singing performances of Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs and Mahler's Second Symphony.
