Bianca Andrew (Mezzo Soprano)

Bianca has been studying classical singing for three years, and has just completed her Bachelor of Music at the New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) in Wellington. She has a great love for French music, and hopes to continue her studies in France in the future.

Currently under the tuition of Margaret Medlyn, Bianca performed the role of Ino in the 2009 NZSM production of Handel's 'Semele', and frequently represents the School in their public concerts. In January 2010 she was one of 24 singers chosen to attend the New Zealand Opera School, and in March she performed the role of Cherubino in the Days Bay Opera production of Mozart's 'The Marriage of Figaro'.

Bianca has appeared with The Festival Singers of Wellington as a soloist for Saint-Saëns' Mass Op.4, with the Wellington Cathedral Choir of Saint Paul's as mezzo-soprano soloist in the Duruflé Requiem, and also in concert for the Dame Malvina Major Foundation. This year Bianca was awarded first prize at the inaugural Alliance Française Concours de la Chanson in the 'Chant Moderne' category. She is also the 2010 recipient of the Rotary Foundation of Wellington Music Scholarship.
