Ursula Langmayr (Soprano)

The Austrian soprano Ursula Langmayr received her early musical education in the music-high school of her hometown Linz. This was followed up with studies at the Mozarteum-University in Salzburg, where she was trained by Ingrid Janser-Mayr and Wolfgang Holzmayr.

Ever since she has been very much in demand, performing in national and international festivals, such as Wien Modern, Wiener Festwochen, steirischer herbst, styriarte, Bregenzer Festspiele, Salzburger Festspiele, Carinthischer Sommer, Berlin modern and many others. She has been cooperating with conductors and artists like Dennis Russel Davies, Silvian Cambreling, Emilio Pomàrico, Beat Furrer, Russel Ryan, Martin Haselböck, Lorenz Duftschmid, Sebastian Gottschick, Uwe Christian Harrer and Johannes Prinz.

Ursula Langmayr is also active as an opera singer, performing in various Mozart-operas as well as in the Austrian premiere of Orpheo by Philipp Glass as Euridice and the world premiere of Begehren by Beat Furrer.

Another scope of her singing is Lied-repertiore, which includes recitals of songs by Kurt Schwertsik and the premiere of Tehellim by Steve Reich.

As an oratorio singer she has been performing J.S.Bach’s St.John Passion, St. Matthew Passion and b-minor mass (in cooperation with Wiener Akademie directed by Martin Haselböck), J. Haydn’s creation, J. Brahms’ Deutsches Requiem, Mozart’s c-minor mass and practically all masses by Bruckner, Haydn and Schubert.

As a flexible and versatile artist she has been performing all over Europe as well as the US, Japan and China. Her latest projects included the role of Sandrina in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera (performed in the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Luxembourg Philharmonie), Weltgeist in Mozart’s Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots (Carinthischer Sommer 2006), the opera I hate Mozart by Bernhard Lang and the Engel in Thomas Daniel Schlee’s Ich, Hiob (Carinthischer Sommer 2007).
