Auckland Choral 100th Hallelujahs Documentary trailer

Who we are: Get to know some of our choir members

  • Rosemarie Brown

Picture of Rosemarie BrownI think I’ve been singing my entire life and life without singing is a little empty. I’ve sung in choirs since Primary School and with churches. I’ve sung in bands, concerts and on stage. Nowadays I sing in operas,  concerts, and for the last few years with Auckland Choral. I have sung in the US, Canada, with Symphony orchestras in Australia and New Zealand, with opera companies in Australia and New Zealand. There is nothing more magical, inspiring, uplifting and energising than when you are making absolutely beautiful music with the entire team of musicians and giving enjoyment to many, to transport the listeners into their own world of music and fantasy.  For those times where I resonate with the words, the composer or story – then words cannot express that amazingness, but music can!  I have chills by the time I am finished Handel’s Messiah and that is my icing on the cake every year thanks to Auckland Choral.

  • Albert Wilson

Picture of Albert WilsonHi! I’m Albert Wilson, and joined Auckland Choral in 2018, as a Tenor.

Originally from South Africa, I have sung in choirs since I can remember, therefore it was only natural to join a choir again and continue this passion, when I relocated to New Zealand.

Being part of Auckland Choral is truly special as it gives members the opportunity to belong to a truly special and inspiring community of choral music lovers, no matter your background!

With its rich history, committed leadership and world-class conductor, I am very honoured to be part of the choir.

  • Rachel Harrison

Picture of Rachel HarrisonI am originally from the UK where I studied music. After a few years in London working in Orchestral Management the call of the sea became strong and I spent the next few years yachting. During my time in the Pacific I ended up sailing to New Zealand where I decided to step ashore and have called New Zealand home for just over 9 years.

During my time at sea I missed my music, but my clarinet playing days were long gone. I decided I would give singing a try, even though I was a little nervous of my abilities, so I approached Auckland Choral. As soon as I attended my first rehearsal I realised this is what I had been missing and have been a member of Auckland Choral ever since. Auckland Choral became a family to me, and I passionately supported it by being on the Management Committee for several years until May 2016, including Convener of the Music Committee. I love my Wednesday night rehearsals and being able to perform magical works in fabulous venues with friends!
